Taiwanese Research Suggests New 15 Minute Exercise Target

The study, as reported by The Lancet, analyzed over 400,000 adults over a period of eight years.
The research derived from this national screening program provided eye-opening evidence that a healthy lifestyle does not have to be as difficult as heavy exercise regimes.
Although the UK recommends 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day, the Taiwanese study showed that even as little as 15 minutes a day or 90 minutes a week could increase a person’s life expectancy by three years. Moreover, those who completed activities such as brisk walking, or other moderate exercises, showed a 14 percent reduction in their overall mortality risk.
These new statistics come as a relief to a modern society; in an age where technology is bred to make life less strenuous, exercise and physical activity have taken the back seat.
Though allocating 30 minutes a day or more might be demanding for some, finding a slot of 15 minutes for a bit of exercise is a positive target that can be achieved by almost everyone.
